Southport Special School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) School.

Our school rules are:

  • Be Safe
  • Be Kind
  • Be a Learner

Proactive

  • Staff follow the guidelines of “Essential Skills of Classroom Management”
  • Teachers provide weekly lessons on the school rules

Positive Behaviour Processes

  • Classes can use SKL (Be Safe. Be Kind. Be a Learner.) Sticker chart for a reward system.
  • If students reach 10 stickers in one area they can get a reward in class or a Certificate at Assembly.
  • Staff can also give Gotcha’s when they see Positive Behaviour. Gotcha’s are a piece of paper with the school poster on them.
  • Some teams put the Gotcha’s in a draw at Assembly’s.
  • Positive Behaviour can also be recorded in Oneschool (State-wide database)
  • Every semester each sector holds a Celebration Day for students who have demonstrated positive behaviour.  Our school Mascot "Splash" always joining the Principal in celebrating with our students and giving our awards for positive behaviour.
