Junior school

Junior school is the area for the younger members of our Special School and encompasses students from Prep to Year 2.

Semester 1 of Prep students engage in a play based program to develop their social and play skills. As part this programming students are assessed in communication skills and basic academic skills. Programming is linked to the national curriculum through subject areas including English, Mathematics, Science, HPE and the Arts. In second semester programming in Prep classes is determined by the observations and interactions of the students from Semester 1. At this point student program pathways are determined and students will work within a process based learning environment or a more traditional academic program.

Students in Year 1 and 2 engage in appropriate programs for their needs academically, communicatively, emotionally, socially and physically.

Junior school have a three cycle of unit plans including topics such as dinosaurs, animals, colours, shapes, habitats and fairytales.
